In the midst of changes

Coming to school each day of this holidays has been quite exciting! Why? I never quite know what changes to expect after one night's lapse.

There are now 5 teams of guys at work in the school simultaneously The drains team, the awning team, the internal painting team, the ceiling team and lastly the external painting team.

The drains team have almost finished their work. The heavy downpour yesterday was a good test to the drainage system. There are still some issues to be addressed but overall the flooding problem looks resolved.

The awnings team is in the midst of fixing the metal frames. The transparent rain shelters near the canteen walkway is up and looks good.

We debated for a while whether to do up the ceilings fo the ERT and GK room. The ceilings were made up of small wooden panels. Each time someone walked upstairs, a layer of dust would seep through the small holes in the joints betwee the wooden panels and descend on the students and teachers below. If we were to postpone this, we would have to wait till next year to do anything here because it would be difficult to find willing workers during the Raya hols. After that during the next hols, the SPM would be on during the year end examinations and we needed the school to be quiet during the exam period. So we decided we would do it immediately.

However we are really glad we made that decision. The ceiling team for the ERT and the GK's rooms were the most impressive! They came and took measurements. Then with a team of 3 workers and supervisor, they worked all day till 9+ pm one night and transformed the ceilings above. My office staff were really impressed at the transformation once the ceilings were in place. It look very neat and it was done very quickly.

After the ceiling team were done with the rooms, the internal painting team came and changed the colour from green to paint.

On the next post, we will report the progress of the painting of the external facade.

Change in the midst of changes.
