What a day! 40 students of SMK Convent and several students performers plus proud parents, excited teachers and PIBG gathered in the DBKL auditorium today. The occasion? The Majlis Penyampaian Anugerah Kecemerlangan & Piala Pusingan Datuk Bandar 2010. Translated that means the Prize Giving Ceremony and the Mayor's Cup Challenge Trophy 2010.

The event was officiated by YB Dato' Raja Nong Chik Bin Dato' Raja Zainal Abidin and graced by the presence of Dato' Hamidah Binte Maktar, Datuk Seri Micheal Yeoh from YTL Land  and Dato' Khairil Bin Awang - the Director of Education in KL.

SMK Convent Sentul  recieved the Mayor's Cup and RM 5,000.00  amidst loud and happy cheers and applause from the guest of honor, Dato' Raja Nong Chik. O happy day!

I thank and salute the efforts of those who have helped us win this cup again this year. Pn Phoon Yoke Meng, the previous principal had set the groundwork and paved the way towards the excellent results recieved. The teachers of CS are remarkably dedicated and tireless in their efforts to bring out the best of their students. Our lovely obedient girls rose to the challenge and excelled in work and play. We recieved 22 awards for PMR (  RM 500.00 each ) 10 awards for SPM ( RM 700.00 each) and 8 awards for co-curricular excellence ( RM 200 each)

I want to thank several teachers who toiled together and lent their support to make this win a reality!    Pn Rubiah, our previous PK Hem made sure all the files were updated and well arranged. Her support and expertise especially during the time the evaluation team visited our school in May was truly invaluable! Right from the start, Pn Sarah our counsellor was there together with me from the first meeting right up to the day we recieved the awards. She worked tirelessly and quietly in preparing the girls for all the different activities from the camps to the exciting fun ECO Drum  percussion performance we saw today.

Pn Wang and Mr Lim had worked very hard both last year and this year to maintain our excellent academic results. Datin Cheam's spirited support always encourage me to rally on. Pn Rose Saidah - our wonderful and beautiful PIBG chairman is always very supportive - she makes great effort to come for every school event ( including our discipline meetings. Wow! ) Thank you - teachers, students, parents and community associated with Convent Sentul for help rendered and your encouraging support. For those of you who have prayed us into victory, Thank you!!!

Sweet Success in winning the Mayor's Cup is sweeter still because Convent Sentul has now won this cup for the 3rd year running ( 2008, 2009 and 2010 ). However this year was especially challenging. Why? Previously, the competition was only among 8 schools in the Sentul Zone as the prizes and event are largely sponsored by YTL Land. This year, the competition was extended to 20 schools all around KL for the first time. Even when the evaluation team came in May, the main word they had for us was "The competition is very tough this year". Thank God we won again !

And to make the success even sweeter, today is the begining of my Biblical New Year. What a wonderful New Year gift! Thank you, Papa God for my great New Year gift. What a wonderful start to a brand New Year! I also noted an article in the Star newspaper today which mentioned that it is also a special day festival day for the Indians.

And finally to the kind sponsors of this competition - mainly YTL Land. Thank you.

Posing with Datuk Seri Michael Yeo of YTL Land who has sponsored
a big portion of the cash prize awards.
